Earlier Wednesday, the University of Michigan Able-bodied Department announced that the football squad was pausing all team-related activities until Dec. 7 as the plan is experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak. As a result, Saturday's game against Maryland is cancelled and won't be rescheduled. On Monday, Michigan head coach John Harbaugh appear that the programme would be conducting their meetings nigh as they were anticipating presumptive positive COVID-19 tests.

"The decision by our medical professionals to finish practices and cancel this Saturday'southward game against Maryland was made with the health, safety and welfare of the student-athletes, coaches and staff every bit our utmost priority," Warde Manuel, University of Michigan's Athletic Managing director said. "We have seen an increment in the number of pupil-athletes unavailable to compete due to positive tests and associated contact tracing due to our most recent antigen and PCR testing results."

After Saturday's cancellation, Maryland is officially eliminated from Large Ten Championship contention. In order to authorize for the Big X Championship a team must play a minimum of vi games. Saturday's cancellation is the tertiary for Maryland this season. Maryland previously had games cancelled against No. iii Ohio State and Michigan Country due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the plan.

According to a release from the team, the Terps will still practice and hold meetings on Wednesday. Maryland's next regular season game is scheduled for Dec. 12 confronting Rutgers at Maryland Stadium.
